Power

The Lithne can be powered via USB, an external power supply or through a battery connected to the Power Shield. The Lithne switches automatically between power sources.

The USB connector is a type B female connector, an AC-DC adapter can be connected to the 2.1mm center-possitive plug (equal to that of an Arduino) and the battery that can be connected to the Power Shield is an iPod battery.

The Lithne features the following power pins:

  • Vin_F. When the Lithne is powered through an external power supply this pin enables you to supply voltage through. You can also supply the board through this pin. This pin is only functional when a power source is connected to it.
  • USB_VBUS. When the Lithne is powered via USB this pin enables you to supply voltage through. This pin is protected by a diode, but it does not feature a fuse. Therefore it is not advisable to supply voltage through other means than a protected USB power supply or computer.
  • Vin_5V. When the Lithne is power through an external power supply connected to the power plug or Vin_F this pin will give you access to the regulated 5V. The maximum current that can be drawn from this pin is 1.5A. This pin is not usable when powering the board via USB or through the Power Shield. This pin is unprotected as it is an output pin only, supplying current through this pin will damage the board! 
  •  V+RAW. Derived from Vin_5V and/or USB_VBUS, combines these voltages and adds extra protection before supplying voltage to the 3V3 voltage regulator.
  •   +3V3. Supply for the Lithne’s processors and external components. The maximum current that can be drawn from this pin is 500mA.  This pin is unprotected, supplying current through this pin will damage the board!
  •  GND. Ground.
